Practice tests

Free practice questions by topic

By the PrepMatic team · Updated · 164 pages

Every page in this section takes one topic from an exam syllabus, such as Indian Polity for TNPSC or Current Electricity for NEET, and gives you five sample multiple-choice questions with answers and explanations, a short note on what the topic covers and how to prepare it. The pages are free to read and carry no sign-up. The full topic tests, with more questions and a timer, are on PrepMatic.

The questions are original practice items written in the style and standard of each exam. They are not copies of past-paper questions, and they are not predictions of what will be asked. Use them to find out whether a topic is secure, then confirm anything that matters against the official syllabus and notification on the exam body's website.

How to use a practice page

  1. Read the "what this topic covers" section so that you know the scope.
  2. Attempt all five questions without looking at the answers, in about five minutes.
  3. Check your answers and read every explanation, including the ones you got right, because the wrong options are written to show the usual mistakes.
  4. Read the preparation section, make notes on what you missed, and come back to the page after a week.
  5. When the five questions feel easy, take a longer topic test on PrepMatic, which gives about 15 questions in 30 minutes.

For the TNPSC pages, remember one rule of the real paper. A wrong answer costs nothing, but a question left blank costs 0.5 mark, so you should never leave an OMR row empty. The TNPSC marking scheme explains the details.

TNPSC practice pages by unit

The table follows the Group 4 paper (Notification No. 11/2026), which has 200 questions for 300 marks in 3 hours. TNPSC calls the unit-wise question counts "indicative", so treat them as a guide to proportion, not a promise. The Group 2 prelims uses the same six General Studies units at degree standard, and our questions are written at the SSLC level of Group 4. For the syllabus itself, see the Group 4 syllabus.

Pages for banking, NEET and GATE are listed in the directory above, next to the guides for bank exams, NEET and GATE.

Frequently asked questions

Are these questions taken from past papers?

No. They are original practice questions written for this section. TNPSC publishes some previous question papers and answer keys on its official site, and our guide to Group 4 previous year questions explains how to use them. Use past papers to learn the real pattern, and these pages to drill a topic.

How many questions should I practise on each topic?

Start with the five on a topic page, and repeat them a week later. If your score is 4 or 5 out of 5, move to a longer test on the same topic. If it is 3 or lower, read the topic from your textbook again before you attempt more questions, because more questions will not fix a gap in the basics.

Where can I take a full topic test?

On PrepMatic. A topic test has about 15 questions and a 30-minute timer, and after you finish you see your score, a breakdown by subject and the subject that cost you the most marks. The free Basic plan includes 5 topic tests and 2 mock tests a month, and needs no credit card. TNPSC aspirants can choose Tamil as their exam language, so that the questions are in Tamil.
