The NEET-UG application form is filled online on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website after NTA publishes the information bulletin. For NEET 2027, the bulletin and the registration window have not been announced yet. What has been announced is that the Union Education Minister said on 15 May 2026 that NEET will become a computer-based test from 2027, with the 720-mark format unchanged. Until NTA publishes the bulletin, no application date, fee or document list for 2027 is official, and this page explains how the process worked in 2026 so you can be ready.

News reports describe a multi-day exam with several shifts and score normalisation. NTA has notified none of this, so treat it as unconfirmed. The NEET exam pattern page tracks what is official.
How the 2026 application ran
NEET 2026 was a pen-and-paper exam. The information bulletin and online registration opened on 8 February 2026, as reported by education publishers. Sources differ on the closing date, giving 8 March or 11 March, and the window may have been extended, so check the NTA notice if you need the exact day. The exam was first held on 3 May 2026. After a paper leak that exam was cancelled, and NTA notified a re-examination on 16 May 2026, held on 21 June 2026.
Fees in 2026, as reported
| Category | Fee reported | Reported by |
|---|---|---|
| General | ₹1,700 | Careers360 and PW |
| General-EWS and OBC-NCL | ₹1,600 | PW |
| SC, ST, PwBD and third gender | ₹1,000 | PW |
| Centres outside India | ₹9,500 | PW |
These are not NTA's own figures as read by us, and the 2027 fee will be in the 2027 bulletin. Do not pay any amount that does not come from the NTA payment page.
What the 2026 re-examination teaches about the form
The re-exam rules, from NTA's FAQ of 16 May 2026, show which parts of your application matter later:
- No fresh registration and no extra fee. Your original application carried over.
- Fee refund for the cancelled exam. The original fee was refunded through a bank-details module, which NTA promised by 21 May 2026. Enter bank details accurately wherever the portal asks.
- Address and city choices. Candidates could update their address and pick two city choices, so the centre could change.
- Medium could not be changed. The language you chose in the form was locked, even for the re-exam.
The last point is the one to think about before you submit. NEET is offered in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Tamil is offered at centres in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. If you choose a language other than English, you get a bilingual booklet, and if the two versions differ, the English version is treated as final. The NEET preparation in Tamil guide helps you decide.
Check your eligibility before you apply
The detailed rules are on the NEET eligibility page. The points that decide whether your application can lead to a seat are:
- You must be 17 years old on or before 31 December of the admission year (31 December 2026 for the 2026 cycle).
- You must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English in Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
- Tamil Nadu's 2026-27 prospectus, quoting the medical education regulations, requires 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together for the General category, 40% for SC, ST and OBC, 45% for General-PwBD, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC-PwBD.
The marks rules come from the medical admission regulations quoted in the Tamil Nadu prospectus, not from the NEET form. The bulletin will say what it requires at the time you apply.
What to prepare before the window opens
The bulletin will list the exact documents and image specifications. You can still get ready:
- Keep a working mobile number and email address that you will use throughout, so notices reach you.
- Have your Class 10 and Class 12 details at hand, and your category certificate if you claim a reservation.
- Keep a recent photograph and a scanned signature ready, and check them against the bulletin's size and format limits.
- Decide your medium of examination, and your exam city choices, in advance.
- Keep your bank details handy, because the 2026 refund went through a bank-details module.
Beware of fake sites
Apply only through NTA's official websites, neet.nta.nic.in for the exam and nta.ac.in for notices. NTA issued an advisory on 20 July 2026 about fake, altered or AI-generated NEET 2026 documents and fake OMR sheets circulating on social media. Never pay a third party to "complete" your form or promise a changed centre, and do not share your login.
After the form
Once you apply, the next step is the admit card. The NEET admit card page explains how it worked in 2026. The result process is on the NEET result page, and the full guide is on the NEET hub.
Preparing with PrepMatic while you wait
The bulletin date does not change what you need to know. PrepMatic's free NEET assessment (about 15 questions, no timer) shows your weakest subjects across Physics, Chemistry and Biology, along with a readiness percentage. When you have an exam date, the plan is built from it and your daily study hours, with full-length mocks that follow the real paper and negative marking, and custom mocks focused on weak subjects. Choose Tamil as your exam language in the app if you plan to write NEET in Tamil.
