NEET information bulletin
On this page
The NEET information bulletin is the official document in which NTA sets out the rules for one year's NEET-UG: who can apply, the exam pattern, fees, languages, centres, reservation and the process for results. When a coaching site, a video and the bulletin disagree, the bulletin wins. NTA has not yet released the NEET-UG 2027 bulletin as of 9 October 2026.
What the bulletin contains
- Eligibility: age, qualifying subjects and marks, nationality.
- Exam pattern: questions, marks, duration and the marking scheme.
- Application: fees, documents, correction window and languages.
- Exam day: admit card, dress code, reporting time and items allowed.
- After the exam: reservation rules, answer key, tie-breaking and ranks.
It also has a chapter on the medium of the question paper. NTA's FAQs for the 2026 re-examination point candidates to Para 6 (ix) of Chapter 4 of the Information Bulletin for how each language maps to states.
Why you should read the current one
- Rules change between years. NEET moved from 200 questions in 200 minutes to 180 compulsory questions in 3 hours, and the tie-breaking order lost age as a criterion, so an old article gives wrong answers.
- Dates and fees are cycle-specific. For the 2026 cycle, the bulletin and registration opened on 8 February 2026, and the General application fee was reported as Rs.1,700. Other categories' fees should be read from the bulletin itself.
- The medium choice is final. The language chosen in the application cannot be changed later, and in 2026 it could not even be changed for the re-examination.
NEET 2027
The Union Education Minister announced on 15 May 2026 that NEET-UG will move to computer-based testing from 2027, with the 720-mark format unchanged. Details such as dates, the number of shifts and normalisation will come only in the 2027 bulletin. Until then, treat anything you read about them as unconfirmed.
