MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) in NEET
On this page
MCC is the Medical Counselling Committee, the body under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) that runs centralised online NEET counselling. It allots All India Quota seats, deemed university seats and seats in central institutions. NTA conducts NEET and declares results; MCC and the state authorities take over from there to give out seats.
Which seats MCC counsels
- The 15% All India Quota seats in state government medical and dental colleges. In Tamil Nadu that is 753 MBBS seats in 2026-27.
- All seats in deemed universities.
- Central universities and institutions, such as BHU, AMU, Delhi University colleges and IP University.
- AIIMS and JIPMER.
- ESIC colleges, including the insured-person ward quota.
The state quota is not MCC's job. Each state's authority counsels for it, and in Tamil Nadu that is the Selection Committee in Chennai.

Dates change, so go to the source
As reported for 2026, MCC scheduled Round 1 results for 17 August, Round 2 for 11 September and Round 3 for 30 September, with the stray vacancy round in mid-October. MCC revises its schedule often, so rely on the notice on mcc.nic.in, not on a coaching-site calendar. Fees, deposits and eligibility rules also differ by quota and year. We could not confirm them from the MCC website, so they are not quoted here as facts.
Frequently asked questions
Is MCC the same as NTA?
No. NTA conducts the entrance exam and publishes the result. MCC counsels for seats afterwards.
Does MCC fill Tamil Nadu's state quota seats?
No. It fills only the AIQ share of Tamil Nadu's government colleges, deemed universities and central institutions. The state quota is filled by the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee. See the counselling process guide for how both tracks fit together.
