As of 9 October 2026, we have no official TNPSC hall ticket date to report for the Group 2 and 2A (CCSE-II) preliminary exam. Reports say the 2026 prelims is on 1 November 2026, but we have not confirmed that in the official PDF. The hall ticket is released online by TNPSC and downloaded with the OTR account you applied from. Mains hall tickets are issued separately, and only to candidates shortlisted from the prelims.

This page covers both stages, because Group 2 and 2A have a common prelims followed by different mains papers.

In the 2025 cycle (Notification No. 11/2025), the prelims was on 28 September 2025 from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM, and the mains date was announced along with the prelims result. For marks and stages, see the Group 2 exam pattern.

What is not yet announced

  • The prelims hall ticket release date. TNPSC announces it, and we do not predict it.
  • The mains dates for the 2026 cycle. In 2025 the mains date came with the prelims result.
  • The hall ticket and instructions for the Group IIA computer-based paper. Their format will be in TNPSC's own notice.

How to download the hall ticket

  1. Watch www.tnpsc.gov.in for the hall ticket notice. It tells you the link and, for the mains, which candidates are eligible.
  2. Open www.tnpscexams.in and log in with the OTR user ID and password you used for the Group 2 application (the OTR guide covers recovery). Reset a forgotten password well before the exam.
  3. Find your Group II and IIA application and download the hall ticket in PDF form. Menu names may differ from this description.
  4. Print it and keep a digital copy as backup.

If the hall ticket is missing from your account, or you applied and were not shortlisted, check TNPSC's notice first. Then contact the helpdesk: toll-free 1800 419 0958 (10.00 AM to 5.45 PM on working days), or helpdesk@tnpscexams.in for OTR queries. Do not wait until the day before the exam.

What to check

  • Name, date of birth and register number. The register number is what appears in shortlists and results.
  • Photograph and signature, which should match your application.
  • Stage and date: prelims or Paper I or Paper II of the mains. Read the date and the session timing for each separately.
  • Exam centre: its name and address, and how long the journey takes. If you are from another district, plan to reach the day before.
  • Instructions. The hall ticket lists what to carry and what is not allowed.

If you spot a wrong detail, tell the helpdesk immediately. Application errors can be fixed only in the correction window, which in the 2025 cycle was three days after the last date (18 to 20 August 2025).

Rules to know for the prelims OMR

The Group 2 notification for your cycle has its own instructions annexure, so read it first. The Group 4 2026 notification is the most recent TNPSC notice we have read in full, and it shows how TNPSC currently runs OMR exams. Its sheets have five bubbles per question (A to D plus [E], "answer not known"), no deduction for wrong answers, 0.5 mark off for each question left completely blank, and penalties for a missing thumb impression or a wrongly written register number. If your Group 2 instructions say the same, shade [E] rather than leaving a blank. The marking scheme page explains the rule across TNPSC exams.

The prelims is 200 questions in 3 hours. Part A is language (General Tamil or General English, 100 questions), Part B is General Studies (75) and Part C is Aptitude and Mental Ability (25). That works out to 54 seconds per question. Prelims marks are used only for shortlisting for the mains, and the minimum qualifying score is 90 out of 300 for all communities.

For the mains

  • Group II mains are two written papers, and the Tamil Eligibility Test is only a qualifying paper: you need 40 of 100, and Paper II is evaluated only if you clear it. Rank comes from Paper II alone. Prepare for handwriting speed as well as content, with the Group 2 mains preparation guide.
  • Group IIA mains Paper II is computer-based. Practise full-length objective papers on a screen so that navigating questions and managing the clock feel normal.
  • Forester candidates have an endurance test in addition to the written exams. Check the notification for the details.

How PrepMatic helps

For the prelims, PrepMatic's mock tests follow the structure of a 200-question, 300-mark paper, and you can take them with Tamil as the exam language. The result shows the score, a subject-wise breakdown and the subject that cost you the most marks, and the free assessment lists your weakest subjects first. The practice is objective, so it helps with the prelims and the Group IIA computer-based paper. It does not cover descriptive mains answer writing for Group II or the Tamil Eligibility Test paper. Reminders can be sent by browser notification or email, which helps you keep to the plan.

Frequently asked questions

When will the TNPSC Group 2 hall ticket 2026 be released?

We have no official release date to report. News reports put the 2026 prelims on 1 November 2026, but TNPSC's own notice is what counts. Check www.tnpsc.gov.in.

Where can I download the Group 2 hall ticket?

Log in at www.tnpscexams.in with the OTR user ID you applied with, or follow the link in TNPSC's hall ticket notice.

Do I get a separate hall ticket for the mains?

Yes. The mains stage has its own hall ticket for shortlisted candidates, and the dates are announced after the prelims result. In the 2025 cycle, the mains date was announced with the prelims result.

Is the Group 2 hall ticket the same for Group II and IIA?

The prelims is common. After the prelims, Group II and Group IIA have separate mains papers, so shortlisted candidates receive hall tickets for the stage they qualified for.

What if I forget my OTR password?

Use the password reset on the portal. If that fails, contact the helpdesk toll-free on 1800 419 0958 or email helpdesk@tnpscexams.in.
