Post code and vacancies1095; 8 (tentative)
Pay levelLevel 10
Pay range₹20,600 to ₹65,500 per month
Starting basic pay₹20,600

The notification prints "Level 10" only; the range comes from Schedule-I of G.O. Ms. No. 303 (11 October 2017), summarised on the salary hub. Level 10 is two levels above VAO and Junior Assistant and equals the pay level of Steno-Typist Grade III. It is the highest level of any post in the 2026 Group 4 notification.

What is added to basic pay

Dearness allowance is added to basic pay, and house rent allowance and any city compensatory allowance follow the place of posting. Travelling allowance for official visits is governed separately by government orders. Deductions include professional tax, income tax and your retirement-scheme contribution. The annual increment moves pay one cell down Level 10 on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October, whichever your joining date sets.

What the job involves

The notification does not describe duties. In the Co-operation Department a Junior Inspector supervises primary co-operative societies, such as agricultural credit societies, in an assigned circle: inspecting their records and accounts, checking compliance with the Co-operative Societies Act and rules, and reporting irregularities to senior officers. Much of the work is visiting societies and examining accounts.

Promotion

The Co-operative Subordinate Service has higher inspector grades above the junior grade, and onward promotions to officer posts follow the department's service rules, seniority and departmental tests. Each promotion carries a higher pay level.

Qualification and age

The qualification depends on your category, as the notification prints it:

  • SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC and BCM candidates: a pass in SSLC, or the certificate of eligibility for college studies issued by the Board of Secondary Education or another competent authority.
  • Other candidates: a pass in the Intermediate or Pre-University examination from a UGC-recognised university or institution.
  • Preference (other things being equal): a degree in Commerce, or the Higher Diploma in Co-operative Management from the Natesan Institute of Cooperative Management, Chennai or the Institute of Co-operative Management, Madurai.

Age as on 1 July 2026 is 18 to 30 for Others, with higher limits for reserved categories. The post is filled through the Group 4 exam: one paper, 200 questions, 300 marks, no interview.
