Pay level and basic pay
| Item | Detail |

| Post and service | Executive Officer, Grade III, HR&CE Subordinate Service |
| Post code and 2025 vacancies | 1654; 11 |
| Pay level | Level 10 (CPS) |

The notification prints "Level 10" only. The range is from Schedule-I of G.O. Ms. No. 303 (11 October 2017), summarised on the salary hub. Level 10 is two levels above Grade IV (Level 8), so moving from one grade to the other is worth ₹1,100 on the first stage of basic pay.
What is added to basic pay
Dearness allowance is added to basic pay, and house rent allowance and any city compensatory allowance depend on the place of posting. The CPS marker in the notification means a monthly pension contribution is deducted along with professional tax and income tax. Annual increments fall on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October, according to your joining date.
What an Executive Officer does
The notification does not list duties. An Executive Officer in the HR&CE Department manages a temple's administration under the HR&CE Act: its properties, rents, income, expenditure and accounts, the temple staff, and the conduct of worship and festivals according to the temple's customs.
Qualification and conditions
- Religion: only persons professing the Hindu religion are eligible for this post.
- Degree: from a UGC-recognised university.
- Preferences, other things being equal: employees of religious institutions (not government servants) with at least five years' service; holders of a B.A. in Indian Culture and Religious Institutions Management; and holders of a Diploma in Epigraphy and Archaeology from the Institute of Epigraphy in Tamil Nadu.
- Disability: the notification lists only hard-of-hearing candidates using an assistive device, and acid attack victims, as suitable categories.
Promotion
Promotion goes to higher Executive Officer grades on seniority and the department's service rules, and each step brings a higher level. Pay rises with the annual increment in between.
How to get the post
Through Group 2A: a common prelims for screening, then a Mains with a qualifying Tamil Eligibility Test and a computer-based Paper II (200 questions, 300 marks). Rank depends on Paper II and there is no interview in the 2025 scheme. Read the Executive Officer exams guide and the Group 2 and 2A comparison.
