The "no maximum age" rule

Candidates from the BC(OBCM), BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A) and ST categories who hold a general educational qualification higher than the minimum, such as HSC or a degree for an SSLC-level post, have no maximum age limit. The rule does not apply to VAO, Forest Guard or Forest Watcher. "No maximum" means you must not have completed 60 years. The notification explains this in paras 4.1.2 to 4.1.4.

For VAO, see the VAO age limit. Several board and corporation posts have no maximum age for reserved categories, and a few ask for a degree.

Check an old article against the date

Some articles from earlier cycles say the Others limit is 32. The 2026 notification says 30. Age limits are set notification by notification, so use the table above only for Notification No. 11/2026. The whole picture across Groups 1, 2/2A and 4 is on the TNPSC age limit and eligibility page, and Group 2 and Group 1 have their own answers.
