On this page
In the Group 2 and 2A notification of 2025 (No. 11/2025), the age limit for most posts is 18 to 32 for Others, counted as on 1 July 2025. For most posts there is no maximum age limit for reserved categories: BC, BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A) and ST candidates only need to be under 60.

What about the 2026 cycle?
TNPSC's 2026 planner scheduled the next Group 2/2A notification for 11 August 2026. Its age rules, counted from 1 July 2026, should be read in that notification, because limits change from one cycle to the next. In Group 4, for example, Others are limited to 30. See the Group 4 age limit.
How Group 2 compares
Group 2 has a higher ceiling for Others than Group 4 (32 against 30) and a lower one than Group 1 (34). For reserved categories it has no ceiling for most posts, while Group 1 stops at 39. See the Group 1 age limit and the Group 2 vs Group 2A comparison for the posts themselves.
