The GATE 2027 application fee is ₹1,000 per paper for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates, and ₹2,000 per paper for everyone else, in the regular period. In the extended (late-fee) period it is ₹1,500 and ₹2,500 respectively. As of 9 October 2026 the regular period has ended and the late-fee window closes on 12 October 2026.

Fee per paper, GATE 2027

CategoryRegular periodExtended (late) period
Female, SC, ST, PwD (benchmark disability of 40% or more)₹1,000₹1,500
All others, including OBC-NCL, EWS, General male and foreign nationals₹2,000₹2,500

The fees are the same as in GATE 2026. Foreign nationals and NRIs pay the full fee, because GATE 2027 has no exam centres outside India.

Two papers

If you take two papers, you pay for the second one as well. The brochure says that two papers cost twice the single-paper fee, but the fee table on the website for the extended period does not match that rule, so check the amount on the payment page before you pay. Both papers must be in one application; multiple applications are rejected without refund. See can I write two GATE papers.

Changes and withdrawal

  • Corrections: GATE 2026 charged ₹500 for each change, such as paper, city or category. The GATE 2027 correction window runs 14 to 21 October 2026; read the correction rules on the site for any charge.
  • Withdrawal: no refund.

Dates that decide which fee you pay

EventDate
Regular period closed5 October 2026
Late-fee window closes12 October 2026
Correction window14 to 21 October 2026

These dates were revised more than once (the regular deadline moved from 21 September to 27 September to 5 October), so confirm on the official site, and do not wait for another extension. The full timeline is in when is the GATE 2027 exam.

What you do not pay for

Registration needs DigiLocker, a live face photo, a photo and a signature that meet the specifications, and a valid photo ID. Marksheets and OBC-NCL or EWS certificates are not uploaded to GATE. Scorecard downloads are free for a set window after the result, then ₹500 per paper until 31 December 2027 (how long a GATE score is valid).

For the full registration process, read the GATE 2027 registration guide.
