Is CIBIL score required for SBI PO?
On this page
No. For SBI PO 2026, a clean CIBIL record is not a requirement. The original advertisement did include a clause on adverse credit history, but SBI removed it through a corrigendum dated 1 July 2026.
What happened
SBI's detailed advertisement for Probationary Officers (CRPD/PO/2026-27/09) was released on 18 June 2026. It contained a clause requiring adverse credit history to be cleared before joining. SBI's corrigendum of 1 July 2026 deleted that clause. Articles and videos written between those two dates may still say a clean CIBIL record is needed. For the 2026 recruitment, they are out of date.
What the other recruitments say
- IBPS PO/MT-XVI (2026): the notification has no credit-history clause.
- SBI Junior Associate (2026): we found no CIBIL clause in the advertisement text.
None of the three documents sets a CIBIL score cut-off.
Why this still deserves a look next cycle
Banks are free to change eligibility conditions from one advertisement to the next. A clause that was removed this year could return, and a different bank's recruitment may carry its own conditions. So do not rely on a rule reported by a coaching site or a video. Open the detailed advertisement, search for terms such as "credit", "CIBIL" and "adverse", and read the corrigenda page along with it.
A corrigendum can change eligibility after an advertisement is out, which is why this matters. On the SBI careers site, the advertisement and its corrigenda are listed together under current openings.
What does matter
The eligibility points you must meet for SBI PO 2026 are the age limit of 21 to 30 (see SBI PO age limit), graduation in any discipline (final-year students may apply provisionally, see final-year students and SBI PO), and the attempt limit. The full checklist is in the bank exam eligibility guide, and the exam stages are in the SBI PO syllabus and exam pattern.
