Which banks recruit through IBPS PO?
On this page
In the 2026 cycle (CRP PO/MT-XVI), IBPS recruits Probationary Officers and Management Trainees for 11 participating public sector banks. State Bank of India is not one of them: it holds its own exam.
The 11 participating banks (CRP PO/MT-XVI)
- Bank of Baroda
- Bank of India
- Bank of Maharashtra
- Canara Bank
- Central Bank of India
- Indian Bank
- Indian Overseas Bank
- Punjab National Bank
- Punjab & Sind Bank
- UCO Bank
- Union Bank of India
The same 11 banks take part in the 2026 clerical recruitment (Customer Service Associate), which allots by State or Union Territory.
Who recruits separately
| Employer | Route |
|---|---|
| State Bank of India | Its own PO and Junior Associate advertisements; see IBPS vs SBI |
| Reserve Bank of India | RBI Grade B (through the RBI Services Board) and RBI Assistant (RBI's own recruitment) |
| NABARD | Grade A (Assistant Manager) through its own advertisement |
| Regional Rural Banks | IBPS CRP RRBs: Officer Scales I to III and Office Assistant, in the RRBs of each state |
How you end up in one bank
You do not choose a bank when you apply. You take the common exam, and after the interview you are provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks. In the 2026 cycle the provisional allotment was scheduled for January 2027, and a reserve list of about 20% of the vacancies is valid for one year from allotment. The PO post is an all-India cadre: you may be posted anywhere in India, or outside it.
The service terms, including probation and any bond, are those of the bank you join; see bank PO probation.
What to check each year
The list of banks can change from one cycle to the next, as banks join, leave or merge. Read the participating-banks clause in the notification for the cycle you apply to, and do not assume it matches the list above. For all bank exams in one place, see the list of bank exams, and for the paper itself the IBPS PO syllabus and exam pattern.
