What is the age limit for SBI PO?
On this page
The age limit for SBI PO in the 2026 advertisement is 21 to 30 years as on 1 April 2026. You must have been born between 2 April 1996 and 1 April 2005, both dates included.
Note the minimum age
SBI PO's minimum age is 21. IBPS PO's minimum is 20, so a 20-year-old graduate can apply for IBPS PO but not for SBI PO. RBI Grade B also starts at 21.
Upper-age relaxation
| Category | Relaxation | Upper age |
|---|---|---|
| General and EWS | None | 30 |
| OBC (non-creamy layer) | 3 years | 33 |
| SC/ST | 5 years | 35 |
| PwBD (General/EWS) | 10 years | 40 |
| PwBD (OBC) | 13 years | 43 |
| PwBD (SC/ST) | 15 years | 45 |
| Ex-servicemen and commissioned officers (including ECOs and SSCOs) with 5 years of service | 5 years | 35 |
The upper-age column is the relaxation added to 30. The advertisement states that cumulative age relaxation will not be available, so you get one relaxation, not several added together.
How the date is counted
Age is calculated on 1 April 2026 for this cycle and not on exam day. A candidate born on 1 April 2005 had just turned 21 and qualified.
Age is not the only ceiling
SBI also limits the number of chances: 6 for UR and EWS, 9 for OBC and for PwBD in the UR, EWS and OBC categories, and no limit for SC/ST, counted by Mains appearances. See SBI PO attempt limits. An SC/ST candidate with unlimited attempts is still bound by the age limit of 35.
If your final results are pending, SBI lets you apply provisionally; see final-year students and SBI PO. For the clerk-level equivalent, read the IBPS Clerk age limit.
