An RBI Grade B officer starts at a basic pay of ₹78,450 a month. The 2026 advertisement states initial gross emoluments of about ₹1,54,936 a month, without house rent allowance.

The pay scale

The Reserve Bank of India Services Board advertisement RBISB/DA/01/2026-27 (Panel Year 2026) prints the scale as:

₹78,450 - 4,050 (9 stages) - 1,14,900 - EB - 4,050 (2 stages) - 1,23,000 - 4,650 (4 stages) - 1,41,600

The scale covers 16 years. "EB" marks an efficiency bar, a checkpoint where an increment depends on meeting the standard for that stage.

What is added to basic

  • Gross emoluments: about ₹1,54,936 a month initially, without HRA, according to the advertisement.
  • House rent allowance: 15% of pay if you are not given bank quarters.
  • Pension: the National Pension System (NPS) is mandatory.

The gross figure is the RBI's own estimate at the start of service. It is not your take-home pay, which is lower once deductions are made.
