The Reserve Bank of India advertisement for Officers in Grade B (DR) for Panel Year 2026 (RBISB/DA/01/2026-27) states a starting basic pay of ₹78,450 a month in the scale ₹78,450-4050(9)-1,14,900-EB-4050(2)-1,23,000-4650(4)-1,41,600, which runs for 16 years. It also states initial gross emoluments of about ₹1,54,936 a month without house rent allowance. The first stage is roughly 60 per cent above the ₹48,480 at which the IBPS and SBI PO scale starts.

The scale reads as nine increments of ₹4,050 to ₹1,14,900, then an efficiency bar (EB), then two more of ₹4,050 to ₹1,23,000, then four of ₹4,650 to ₹1,41,600. An efficiency bar means increments after that point depend on the Bank's assessment of the officer. The ₹1,54,936 gross is RBI's own estimate for the cycle, so your actual figure moves with allowance rates and your centre. The salary hub explains scale notation.

What is added and what is taken off

The advertisement's gross figure combines basic pay with the allowances and benefits the Bank pays at the time. HRA is added only if you are not given Bank accommodation. The NPS contribution comes off pay, along with income tax and other deductions. Use the gross figure as a guide to the structure, and ask the Bank for the current breakup when you are appointed.

Career and growth

Grade B officers are promoted through the Bank's higher grades (Grade C and above) under RBI's promotion policy, with pay rising by increments and at each promotion. The advertisement covers the General cadre; the DEPR and DSIM cadres have their own advertisement details.
