IBPS PO salary: pay scale and what is added in the bank
On this page
The IBPS PO/MT-XVI notification (30 June 2026) prints the basic pay scale for Probationary Officers and Management Trainees as ₹48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,160-2680/7-85,920, plus allowances as per the rules of the bank to which you are allotted. IBPS runs the exam, but the bank is your employer, so salary structure, posting and promotion follow that bank's policies.

What is added and what is taken off
The notification prints the basic scale only, so any "IBPS PO salary" total you see in rupees is someone's estimate for one bank and one city. Dearness allowance, house rent allowance, city compensatory allowance, special allowances and other benefits are set by each bank, and they change with the allowance rates and with your place of posting. On the deduction side come income tax, the retirement-scheme contribution and any loan or insurance deductions. Ask the allotted bank for its salary structure when you get your allotment.
Posting and growth
IBPS PO is an all-India cadre: the notification says you may be posted anywhere in India or outside it. After allotment you join the bank as a probationer, and promotion then follows that bank's scale structure, which for public sector banks moves from Scale I to Scale II and Scale III and above through the bank's own promotion process. Pay grows with annual increments and with each promotion.
