An AI app for TNPSC should do what a good mentor does before the first class: find out where you stand, turn the syllabus into a plan around your exam date, and keep testing you against the real paper. PrepMatic is Tamil Nadu's first AI app for TNPSC, built in Chennai. You pick your group and your exam language (Tamil or English), take a free 15-question assessment, get a study plan with a Today view and a Roadmap, and then practise with topic tests and full-length mocks that match the real paper.

PrepMatic is a web app: you open it in your browser at prepmatic.in. This page explains what it does, what it does not do, and who should and should not use it, so you can decide before you spend any time on it.

What "AI-first" means here, and what it does not

In PrepMatic the AI does six specific jobs:

  • Writes practice questions for the TNPSC group you choose, in Tamil or English.
  • Reads your assessment result and names your weakest and strongest subjects.
  • Builds your study plan from your exam date, daily study hours and study days.
  • Builds mocks around your weak subjects, or from notes you upload.
  • Estimates your readiness and predicted score, and updates both as you take more tests.
  • Explains your doubts in Tamil or English through the AI Study Tutor, which you open from any topic in your plan. See the TNPSC AI tutor page.

Here is what it does not do. There are no live classes and no human mentors, and the AI tutor answers individual doubts rather than teaching whole subjects; like any AI, it can be wrong, so check facts against your books. There is no descriptive answer-writing practice or evaluation. And the practice questions are AI-generated, so PrepMatic is not a bank of TNPSC's own past papers. For those, use the official question papers and answer keys, and see how to use previous year questions for Group 4.

The flow, step by step

  1. Choose your exam, group and exam language. Pick TNPSC, then your group, then Tamil or English as the language you want your questions and mock tests in.
  2. Take the free assessment. About 15 multiple-choice questions, no timer. Read what the assessment shows and how to interpret it.
  3. Read your result. You get a projected score against the paper's maximum marks, a readiness percentage, your weakest and strongest subjects, subject-wise correct answers, how far you are from the expected cut-off where available, and an answer review with explanations.
  4. Set up your study plan. Enter your exam date, how many hours a day you can study (light, moderate or intense) and which days you study. The plan has a Today view for the day's work and a Roadmap that breaks the time left into months, weeks and topics. See how the AI study planner works.
  5. Practise as you go. After you finish topics, take topic tests (about 15 questions, 30 minutes) and coverage checkpoints. Log your study time. Add full-length mocks as the exam gets closer.
  6. Track your readiness. Your results page shows your score with a subject-wise breakdown and the subject that cost you the most marks. Analytics show accuracy over time, subject-wise accuracy and speed per question. You can set study reminders by browser notification or email.

Nothing in this flow replaces reading your textbooks. PrepMatic tells you where to look and tests whether it stuck; the learning still comes from your books, notes and class material (see the best books for TNPSC).

Which TNPSC exams it covers

PrepMatic covers Group 1 (prelims), Group 2 and 2A, Group 4 including VAO, and the Combined Technical Services Exam, among other TNPSC exams. All practice is objective (multiple choice). The full-length mocks follow the real paper for the main objective exams:

ExamPaper the full-length mock followsNotes
Group 4 and VAO200 questions, 300 marks, 180 minutes: General Tamil 100, General Studies 75, Aptitude 25Part A is Tamil-only in the 2026 notification
Group 1 prelims200 questions, 300 marks, 180 minutes: General Studies 175, Aptitude 25Prelims only; mains and interview are not covered
Group 2 and 2A prelims200 questions, 300 marks, 180 minutes: Language 100, General Studies 75, Aptitude 25Mains Paper II of Group II is descriptive
Combined Technical Services ExamCheck the exam picker in the appConfirm the stream you need before relying on it

The pattern figures come from the official notifications: Group 4 (Notification No. 11/2026), Group 2 and 2A (Notification No. 11/2025) and Group 1 (Notification No. 04/2025). Patterns change between cycles, so confirm yours in the latest notification, and see the Group 4 exam pattern and Group 2 exam pattern guides for the full detail. If you are still choosing a group, start with TNPSC groups explained.

You can also build shorter custom mocks by choosing the subjects, number of questions, duration and difficulty, and you can generate a mock from notes you upload.

Built in Tamil Nadu, for Tamil Nadu's exams

A TNPSC aspirant's paper looks different from a national exam's. Group 4 has a 100-question Tamil section worth half the marks, and you must score at least 40% (60 out of 150) in it for the rest of your paper to be evaluated. Much of the General Studies paper is Tamil Nadu history, culture and development administration.

So PrepMatic lets TNPSC aspirants choose Tamil as their exam language: questions and mock tests are then in Tamil, and the dashboard and analytics screens are available in Tamil. The whole app is not translated, and this page does not claim it is. The TNPSC app in Tamil guide explains exactly what is and is not in Tamil, and how to switch.

Who it suits, and who it does not

PrepMatic is a good fit if youLook elsewhere, or add something, if you
Study on your own and want a structure and a way to measure progressNeed a teacher to take you through whole subjects: the AI tutor answers doubts but holds no classes
Are preparing for Group 4, VAO, Group 2A or the objective prelims stagesAre preparing for Group 1 mains or the Group II descriptive paper and need answer-writing feedback
Do not know which subject is costing you marksWant live classes, a batch or a human mentor
Work or study full-time and need a plan built around fixed hoursWant a database of TNPSC's own previous-year questions in one place
Prefer practising in Tamil, or want to test both languagesNeed interview preparation for Group 1

If you are weighing PrepMatic against a coaching centre or an online course, the honest answer is often to use more than one. The coaching vs self-study guide compares them on cost, structure, personalisation, accountability and doubt clearing. For Group 1 mains, read how to write high-scoring answers separately, because that skill needs a different kind of practice.

Free plan and paid plans

There is a free forever Basic plan, with no credit card needed. It includes one exam, the AI study plan, 2 mock tests a month, 5 topic tests and 2 uploaded documents. The paid Pro and Elite plans add more mock tests, topic tests and uploads. Check the plans in the app for current details.

On the Basic plan, mock tests are the scarce resource, so use them after you have studied, not as your first activity. A sensible order is the assessment first, then your plan, then topic tests as you finish topics, and your monthly mocks as checkpoints. The mock test strategy for TNPSC page explains when to start full-length papers and how to analyse them.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an AI app for TNPSC preparation?

Yes. PrepMatic is Tamil Nadu's first AI app for TNPSC. It runs in your browser and covers Group 1 prelims, Group 2 and 2A, Group 4 including VAO, and Combined Technical Services, with practice in Tamil or English.

Is PrepMatic free for TNPSC?

The Basic plan is free forever and needs no credit card. It includes the AI study plan, 2 mock tests a month, 5 topic tests and 2 uploaded documents for one exam. The free assessment is the usual place to start.

Can I practise TNPSC questions in Tamil on PrepMatic?

Yes. Choose Tamil as your exam language and your questions and mock tests will be in Tamil. The dashboard and analytics screens are available in Tamil too, though not every screen in the app is.

Does PrepMatic replace coaching for TNPSC?

Not completely. It gives you a plan, practice, progress tracking and an AI tutor for quick doubts, but it does not hold classes or give you a human mentor. Many aspirants use it alongside books, a course or a coaching centre. See the coaching vs self-study comparison.

Does it cover Group 1 mains?

No. PrepMatic practice is multiple choice, so it supports the Group 1 prelims. It does not give descriptive answer-writing practice or evaluation for the mains, and it does not prepare you for the interview.
