TNPSC is a Tamil-first exam. In Group 4, Part A (100 questions of General Tamil) is set in Tamil only, while General Studies and Aptitude are printed in both Tamil and English. PrepMatic's AI Study Tutor lets you ask a TNPSC doubt in either language and read the answer in Tamil, English or Hindi, straight from the topic you are studying in your plan.

This page shows what to ask the tutor for each part of the TNPSC syllabus, how to fit it into the weeks before your exam, and where you still need your books. For the basics of the tutor itself, see the AI tutor overview.

Why Tamil explanations matter in TNPSC

Three features of the TNPSC papers make it worth learning in the language you think in.

  • Part A is a gate, not just a section. In Group 4, Parts B and C are evaluated only if you score at least 40% (60 of 150 marks) in Part A, and Part A marks also count towards your rank. Grammar ideas such as புணர்ச்சி (sandhi) or எழுத்து வகைகள் (letter classes) are far easier to grasp when they are explained in Tamil. See the Group 4 exam pattern for the full scheme.
  • General Studies is bilingual. Questions appear in Tamil and English, so you need the idea clear in one language and the terms recognisable in both.
  • Your textbooks are probably Samacheer Kalvi books. If you studied in Tamil medium, asking a doubt in the same language as your book saves a translation step.

What to ask, unit by unit

Name the topic as your book or syllabus names it, and say what you want. These examples show a good question and the starting point that fits it.

AreaA good question to askStarting point
General Tamil: grammar"புணர்ச்சி விதிகளை எளிய உதாரணங்களுடன் விளக்கு" (explain the sandhi rules with simple examples)Explain simply
General Tamil: literature and scholars"List the main works of Bharathidasan with one line on each"Revision notes
Thirukkural"What is the theme of the chapter அறன்வலியுறுத்தல், and how could TNPSC ask about it?"Explain simply
Tamil Nadu history, culture and socio-political movements"Give me the Self-Respect Movement as a timeline with the key people"Revision notes
Indian economy and development administration in Tamil Nadu"Explain social justice in Tamil Nadu's development model with two examples"Explain simply
Indian polity"Difference between Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles, with one example each"Explain simply
Aptitude and mental ability"Solve a time and work problem step by step using the LCM method"Work through an example
Any unit, before a mock"What mistakes do students make on this topic?"Common mistakes

For a statement-based question you got wrong, type the question with all its options and ask the tutor to explain why each statement is right or wrong. That habit trains you for the statement, match-the-following and assertion-reason formats that are common in recent TNPSC papers.

For the Thirukkural, read the kural itself in Tamil on the Thirukkural pages before asking about it, so you can check the tutor's explanation against the original text.

A tutor routine for the weeks before Group 4

The Group 4 exam under Notification 11/2026 is on 10 January 2027. With that date in mind, a light routine that uses the tutor without taking over your study time looks like this:

  1. After each study session in your plan: one Explain simply question on the hardest point of the topic, and one Practice together question to test yourself.
  2. Once a week, per subject: a Common mistakes session on the topic you scored lowest in that week's topic test.
  3. Before each full mock: Revision notes for the two weakest units.
  4. After each mock: for every question you got wrong and still don't understand, paste the question and options and ask for the reasoning.

Keep it to a few questions a day. The aim is to remove the doubt that blocks you, then go back to the book and to practice. The Group 4 study plan covers how to split the remaining weeks across Tamil, General Studies and Aptitude.

Check the answers that matter

Every answer ends with a line that tells you where it came from: either the PrepMatic reference it used, with a page where available, or a note that it is a general AI explanation. Use that line to decide what to verify.

  • Facts, names and years: confirm in your Samacheer Kalvi book. The books guide lists which standards to read for each subject.
  • Exam rules, dates and vacancies: confirm on tnpsc.gov.in. These change between notifications.
  • Thirukkural text: compare with the original kural rather than a paraphrase.

The tutor is a quick explainer, not an authority. When it disagrees with your textbook, trust the textbook and note the point for a teacher or study group.

What it can't do for TNPSC

  • No descriptive answer evaluation. It won't mark Group 1 mains answers or Group 2's descriptive Main Paper II. See Group 1 mains answer writing for how to practise those.
  • No previous-year paper bank. Use TNPSC's own question papers and answer keys; the guide to Group 4 previous year questions explains how.
  • No live current affairs. It doesn't read today's news. Use dated notes from official sources for that.
  • Text only, with a daily limit. No photos or voice, and a daily question limit shown in the tutor.

How the tutor fits the rest of PrepMatic

The tutor is one part of PrepMatic's TNPSC preparation. The free assessment shows your weak subjects, the plan turns the syllabus into daily sessions up to your exam date, topic tests check each topic, and full Group 4 mocks follow the real paper's 200 questions in 3 hours. The tutor sits on every study session in that plan, so the topic you are reading and the place to ask about it are on the same card. The AI app for TNPSC page describes the whole app and the TNPSC exam guide covers every group.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask TNPSC doubts in Tamil?

Yes. Choose தமிழ் as the explanation language when you start a chat, or switch the reply language to Tamil for a single question. You can type your question in Tamil script too.

Does the AI tutor know the TNPSC syllabus?

When you open it from a topic in your PrepMatic study plan, the chat starts with that topic and your TNPSC exam. In a free-form chat, name the unit and the group in your question, for example "Group 4, Unit VI".

Is it useful for General Tamil?

Yes, for understanding grammar rules, literary works and scholars, with examples in Tamil. Confirm grammar examples and literature facts against your Samacheer Kalvi Tamil books before you memorise them.

Can it help with Group 1 or Group 2 descriptive papers?

It can explain concepts you need for those papers, but it does not evaluate written answers. For mains writing, you need an evaluated test series or a mentor.

How many questions can I ask in a day?

There is a daily question limit, shown in the tutor along with the time it resets. Each starting point and each follow-up counts as one question.
