Bank exams reward speed, and speed comes from understanding a method well enough to use it without thinking. In Tamil Nadu, the IBPS Clerk exam and the RRB Office Assistant and Officer Scale I exams can be taken in English, Hindi or Tamil, though any English language section stays in English. PrepMatic's AI Study Tutor explains quant methods, reasoning puzzles and banking terms in Tamil, English or Hindi, one tap from the topic in your study plan.

This page shows what to ask for each section, how to learn in Tamil while practising in the exam language, and where to check figures that change. For how the tutor works in general, see the AI tutor overview.

What to ask, section by section

Most bank-exam doubts are about a method, not a fact. Ask the tutor to show the method on one example, then practise it yourself.

SectionA good question to askStarting point
Quantitative aptitude"Show me a fast way to do approximation questions, with two worked examples"Work through an example
Quantitative aptitude"Explain the basic idea of solving quadratic equation comparison questions"Explain simply
Data interpretation"Solve this table DI step by step and show where I can save time" (then paste the set)Work through an example
Reasoning ability"How do I start a linear seating arrangement puzzle with eight people?"Explain simply
Reasoning ability"Explain syllogism with the 'possibility' case, with examples"Explain simply
English language"Explain the subject-verb agreement rules that come up in error spotting"Explain simply
Banking awareness"What is the difference between CRR and SLR, in simple words?"Explain simply
Any section, before a mock"What mistakes do candidates make in this topic?"Common mistakes

After an explanation, use Give similar questions for three practice questions on the same idea, with answers at the end. Then time yourself on a few more from your practice book.

Learn in Tamil, practise in the exam language

Understanding and speed are two different jobs.

  • To understand a method, ask in Tamil. A puzzle approach or a percentage shortcut often clicks faster in the language you think in.
  • To build speed, practise in the language you will write the exam in. Ask the tutor for the same explanation in English, or in Hindi if that is your medium, so the terms match the paper.
  • For the English section, the questions are always in English. Asking for grammar rules in Tamil is fine, but practise the questions themselves in English.

The guides to quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability list the topics and their usual weight.

Figures change: check them at the source

Banking awareness questions often turn on a current figure, such as a policy rate or a scheme's limits. The tutor explains concepts well but does not read today's news, and a figure in its answer may be out of date.

  • Rates and policy: confirm on the Reserve Bank of India's website.
  • Exam rules, vacancies and dates: confirm in the official IBPS, SBI or RBI notification for your cycle.
  • Concepts such as what a repo rate does, or how a scheduled bank differs from a cooperative bank, are where the tutor helps most. See banking awareness for what to cover.

The line under every answer tells you whether it used a PrepMatic reference or is a general AI explanation, which is a good guide to what needs checking.

Using it on the RRB and clerk route

For the IBPS RRB and clerk exams, where Tamil can be your exam medium in Tamil Nadu, the tutor is useful at both ends: learning the method in Tamil, and checking that you can follow the same question in the language you will write in. The IBPS RRB guide covers the posts, the pattern and the local-language requirement, and the bank exams guide covers every exam.

What it does not do

  • No photos. You can't send a picture of a DI set or a puzzle. Type it in.
  • No live current affairs. Use official sources and a dated news routine for that.
  • No descriptive writing evaluation. It won't mark essays or letters for SBI PO or IBPS PO mains.
  • A daily question limit, shown in the tutor with the time it resets.
  • Not a previous-year paper bank, and no live classes or mentors.

How the tutor fits the rest of PrepMatic

The tutor is part of PrepMatic's bank-exam preparation. The free assessment shows where you stand in Quant, Reasoning and English, the study plan spreads the topics across the weeks you have, and mock tests can be focused on your weak sections. The tutor sits on every study session in the plan, so the topic you are practising and the place to ask about it are on the same card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I learn bank-exam quant in Tamil?

Yes. Choose தமிழ் as the explanation language, or switch a single reply to Tamil. Once a method makes sense, practise it in the language you will write the exam in.

Can I write bank exams in Tamil?

For IBPS Clerk and the RRB Office Assistant and Officer Scale I exams in Tamil Nadu, the paper is available in English, Hindi and Tamil, except any English language section. PO-level and RBI exams have their own rules, so check the notification for your exam.

Does the tutor know the latest repo rate?

Don't rely on it for current figures. It doesn't read the news, so check rates and limits on the RBI website and in recent official releases.

Can it solve a full puzzle set?

Yes, if you type the whole set. Ask it to explain how it starts the arrangement, not just the final answer, so you can repeat the method under time pressure.

Is there a limit on questions?

Yes. The tutor shows how many questions are left today and when the count resets.
