IBPS RRB notification 2026 (CRP RRBs-XV): posts, dates and eligibility
On this page
The IBPS RRB notification for 2026 (CRP RRBs-XV, dated 1 September 2026) recruits Officers Scale I, II and III and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) for Regional Rural Banks. Registration ran from 1 to 21 September 2026 and IBPS extended it to 27 September 2026 by corrigendum. People search for the posts as "RRB PO" (Officer Scale I) and "RRB Clerk" (Office Assistant). Office Assistant has a prelims and mains with no interview, Scale I adds an interview, and Scale II and III are filled through a single exam followed by an interview.
Posts and stages
| Post | Informal name | Stages |
|---|---|---|
| Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager) | RRB PO | Prelims, Mains, Interview |
| Officer Scale II (Manager): General Banking Officer and specialist streams such as Law, IT, CA, Agriculture, Marketing and Treasury | none | Single exam, Interview |
| Officer Scale III (Senior Manager) | none | Single exam, Interview |
| Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | RRB Clerk | Prelims, Mains (merit on mains only) |
You can apply for Office Assistant and for one officer post (Scale I, II or III) in the same cycle. Each needs a separate application and a separate fee. For officers, the interview carries 100 marks, with a minimum of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD), and the final merit is the exam and the interview in the ratio 80 : 20. IBPS RRB PO and Clerk explains the posts and the Hindi or English language choice in more depth.

Fee
The fee is ₹175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates (ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen also pay ₹175 for Office Assistant) and ₹850 for everyone else. Because you may apply for two posts, budget for two fees.

|---|---|
| Office Assistant | 18 to 28 |
| Officer Scale I | 18 to 30 |
| Officer Scale II | 21 to 32 |
| Officer Scale III | 21 to 40 |
For Office Assistant, that means born between 2 September 1998 and 1 September 2008. For Scale I, between 2 September 1996 and 1 September 2008.
Relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3 years, PwBD 10 years. Officers who are commissioned ex-servicemen with 5 years' service get 5 years.
Education is assessed on 21 September 2026 for this cycle. Office Assistant and Scale I need a bachelor's degree in any discipline. For Scale I, the notification lists a preference for degrees in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, pisciculture, agricultural marketing and cooperation, IT, management, law, economics and accountancy. Computer knowledge is described as desirable. Scale II General Banking Officer needs graduation with at least 50% and two years as an officer in a bank or financial institution. Check each specialist stream's qualification in the notification itself.
The local language rule
RRB posts differ from IBPS PO here. For Office Assistant and Scale I, proficiency in the official language of the state is an essential qualification. You show it by having studied that language in Class 8 or above. If you cannot, the notification gives you 6 months from joining to acquire it, extendable by the RRB's board but not beyond probation. The notification does not describe a separate Language Proficiency Test for RRBs. For Tamil Nadu, the RRB in the notification is Tamil Nadu Grama Bank, with its head office in Salem, and the language is Tamil.
Question papers for Office Assistant and Scale I are in English, Hindi and the regional language of the state. For Tamil Nadu these are English, Hindi and Tamil; for Puducherry, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Prelims has a sectional cut-off in both tests. The mains for Scale I and Office Assistant has Reasoning (50 marks), Computer Knowledge (20), General Awareness (40), English or Hindi (40, your choice) and Numerical or Quantitative Aptitude (50).
