புணர்ச்சி மகிழ்தல்: Rejoicing in the Embrace

புணர்ச்சி மகிழ்தல், rejoicing in the embrace, is the lover's (தலைவன்) speech of delight after their union. His love is returned, and he describes it in images of cure, fire, nectar and heaven. The chapter is tender rather than explicit.
Kural 1101 says that all the joys of the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch) are found in her alone. Kural 1102 turns a familiar idea around, saying a remedy is usually something other than the disease, but for the sickness she causes, she herself is the cure. Kural 1103 asks whether even the heaven of the lotus-eyed Vishnu can be as sweet as sleeping in the soft arms of the one a person loves. Kural 1104 wonders where she got a fire that burns when he withdraws and cools when he approaches. Kural 1105 says she supplies whatever joy he wishes, and Kural 1106 that her touch revives him each time. Kural 1107 compares her embrace to the pleasure of sharing food from one's own household. Kural 1108 describes the embrace of two lovers where not even a breath of wind passes between them. Kural 1109 names the whole cycle of love as quarrel, making up and union. Kural 1110 closes with a thought about knowledge, that the more one learns, the more ignorance one discovers, and so with love.
Kural 1102 is the best known for its turn on remedy and disease.
