Exam questions answered · TNPSC
Is Aadhaar mandatory for TNPSC OTR?
Yes. TNPSC's Group 4 2026 notification states that linking Aadhaar with your One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory to create, renew or access the OTR, and therefore to apply for an exam. Without a linked Aadhaar you cannot get as far as the application form.
What "mandatory" covers
Annexure I (para 2.5) of Notification No. 11/2026 applies the requirement at three points: when you create a new OTR, when you renew an expired one, and whenever you access it. You apply for each exam with your OTR user ID, so the requirement follows you into every application. Guides written a few years ago may not mention it.
What else the OTR asks for
The OTR is a one-time profile that stays valid for five years and costs Rs.150. Besides Aadhaar, you need these details ready (para 2.6.1):
- Your SSLC register number and certificate number
- The month and year in which you passed SSLC
- The medium of study and the board
You also upload a photograph (20 to 50 KB) and a signature (10 to 20 KB). The exact specifications are on the photo and signature size page.
Common problems
- Details that do not match. Check that the name and date of birth on your SSLC certificate and your Aadhaar agree before you start. If something needs correcting later, TNPSC allows OTR edits with supporting documents.
- Registering on an unofficial site. Register only at www.tnpscexams.in, and pay only the Rs.150 OTR fee.
- Thinking OTR is the application. It is not. You still apply separately for each exam. See the OTR and how to apply guide.
If something fails, the TNPSC helpdesk can help. Its number and email are on the helpdesk page.
