The pathway behind it
WorldSkills is held every two years and is called the "Olympics of Skills". Tamil Nadu's earlier results were a Bronze Medal and two Medallions of Excellence at the 2022 Special Edition, and three candidates at Lyon in 2024. Through the TN Skills programme, 53,273 candidates registered, and the route ran from district (Level 1) to region (Level 2) to the state-level competition in 63 skills, then India Skills Regionals, India Skills Nationals and WorldSkills. In the India Skills Regional Competitions 2026 in Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu came first with 108 medals. At the India Skills Nationals it moved from 10th place in 2021 (23 medals) to 3rd in 2024 (40 medals) and 2nd in 2026 (46 medals).
