RBI announces Account Aggregator interoperability and a Technical Consultative Committee
On this page
Along with the repo rate decision, the Reserve Bank of India issued a Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies on 7 October 2026. It has two measures: interoperability among NBFC-Account Aggregators (NBFC-AAs), and a new Technical Consultative Committee for Financial Markets.
Account Aggregator interoperability
RBI has decided to make NBFC-AAs interoperable. A customer will be able to access and share financial information held with different Financial Information Providers (FIPs) through any NBFC-AA of their choice, instead of being tied to one.
A second step involves SEBI-regulated depositories. They are being facilitated to include bank deposit account information in the Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) through NBFC-AAs. A demat account holder can then see demat holdings and bank deposits at one place. People without demat accounts can still get a consolidated view of their financial information through NBFC-AAs.
RBI expects both measures to be implemented by 31 December 2026.
Technical Consultative Committee for Financial Markets
The committee will be a forum for structured engagement between RBI and market participants. Its scope covers the money market, the government securities market and the foreign exchange market, along with the related derivative markets and infrastructure. Its composition and terms of reference will be notified separately.
