புணர்ச்சி விதும்பல், desire for reunion, is about the wife's (தலைவி) eagerness to meet her husband, and how it dissolves her plans to be cross with him. She speaks partly to her confidante (தோழி), and the last kural is in her husband's voice.
Kural 1281 says that joy at the thought and sight of the beloved belongs to love, not to liquor. Kural 1282 says that where love is as large as a palmyra fruit, there is no room for sulking as small as a millet grain. Kural 1283 says that her eyes will not rest until they see him, even if he pays her no regard. Kural 1284 is a small confession to her friend: she went intending to sulk, and her heart forgot and went straight to union. Kurals 1285 and 1286 are the best known of the chapter. Like an eye that cannot see the brush that paints it, she cannot see his fault when she sees him; when she does not see him, she sees nothing but faults. Kural 1287 compares sulking to leaping into a stream one knows will carry one away, and Kural 1288 calls his chest to her what liquor is to a drinker. Kural 1289 says that love is more delicate than a flower. In Kural 1290 her husband recalls how she put on anger in her eyes, but her embrace outdid his own eagerness.
