Your NEET-UG score is 4 × correct answers − 1 × wrong answers, out of 720. Enter the correct and wrong answers for Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology below. The calculator gives the marks for each subject, the total, your Biology marks and a warning if the numbers cannot fit a 45-question section.

Each subject has 45 questions. A correct answer scores +4, a wrong answer scores -1, and an unanswered question scores 0.

Enter the correct and wrong answers for each subject. Questions you did not attempt are worked out for you.

How NEET-UG marks are calculated

NEET-UG has 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions, 45 in each of four sections, for 720 marks in 3 hours. This has been the format since 2025: the old 200-question paper with an optional Section B is gone, so every question counts.

SectionQuestionsMaximum marks
Physics45180
Chemistry45180
Biology: Botany45180
Biology: Zoology45180
Total180720

A correct answer earns 4 marks, a wrong answer loses 1 and an unanswered question scores 0. The NEET exam pattern page covers languages and exam mode.

Worked examples

Example 1: a strong paper with a few errors.

SubjectCorrectWrongBlankMarks
Physics3582132
Chemistry4041156
Botany4230165
Zoology4050155
Total157203608

The total is 157 × 4 − 20 = 608, and Botany and Zoology together give 320 out of 360. With the same 157 correct answers but 40 wrong, the score would be 628 − 40 = 588.

Example 2: an impossible entry. 30 correct and 20 wrong in Physics is 50 attempts in a 45-question section. The calculator stops and names the section, which catches most typing slips.

How to read the result

  • Wrong answers. A guess pays off on average only when your chance of being right is better than 1 in 5, because 4 marks are won against 1 lost.
  • Biology marks. NTA's tie-break rules, as reported for the 2025 bulletin, compare Biology marks first, then Chemistry, then Physics, then the number of wrong answers. The marks vs rank guide lists the full order.
  • Not a rank. Rank depends on how everyone else scored that year, so the calculator does not estimate it.
  • Qualifying is not a seat. NTA's cut-off is a percentile: the 50th for General and EWS candidates, the 40th for SC, ST and OBC. In the 2026 re-examination the General qualifying band was reported as 715 to 213 out of 720. Government seats close at far higher scores, so read the NEET cut-off guide before you read much into a total.

After the exam, count against NTA's official answer key and your recorded response, not a coaching site's key. The answer key guide explains the challenge window.

PrepMatic mock tests apply negative marking where the exam has it and show a subject-wise breakdown. NEET aspirants can also choose Tamil as their exam language.

Frequently asked questions

How is the NEET score calculated?

Multiply your correct answers by 4 and subtract your wrong answers. Unanswered questions score zero. The maximum is 720.

Is there negative marking in NEET?

Yes. Each wrong answer loses 1 mark. Leaving a question unanswered carries no penalty.

Does NEET still have Section B?

No. From NEET 2025, all 180 questions are compulsory and the optional Section B has been removed.
